Counselor
Meet the Counselor
I'm Vedette Vasquez, and I'm excited to be the school counselor at Parmer Lane Elementary. I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in May 2024 with a master's degree in School Counseling. I completed my counseling practicums and internship at PLE while also teaching 3rd grade. I've been part of the PLE community since 2008. I'm grateful for the opportunity to transition into the school counselor role, building on the strong connections I've formed with our students and families.
The services I provide:
Classroom lessons:
Monthly lessons in each classroom about basic life skills such as goal setting, self-esteem, anger management, friendship skills, diversity, personal safety, and conflict resolution.
Individual counseling: I can meet with students individually to talk about issues or concerns. This is done on a need-by-need basis. I can also refer you to a community therapist or counselor from the community.
Small group counseling: a way for students to learn and develop skills that can help them in school, friendships, and family. Small groups generally consist of 5-6 students that meet for 6-8 sessions.
Consultation
Leopard Closet:
We also have a clothing closet for any families that may need extra assistance. Please contact me to set up a time to come get what you may need. We are also always accepting donations of children’s clothing.
